4 Step Exercise – Design Your Life

How to manifest what you want when you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or fragmented, or when you want to be intentional

What You’ll Need
A quiet time and place, ideally at least half an hour.
Something to write with, electronically or manually (some studies suggest our thinking is creative in different, possibly deeper ways when we write manually).

Step 1
Write the heading What I Want To Do This Year on your sheet.  Below that number from 1-10.  Next, in no particular order, fill in as many things as you can think of that you want to be doing this year.  It’s fine if you come up with fewer or more than 10 items.  My list this year had 8.  Review your list and star your top 3.

Step 2
Below or next to your list write the heading Fears/Beliefs/Other Blocking Me.  Then for each item on your Step 1 list, write down the things that keep you from moving forward focusing first on your top 3.

Step 3
Below or next to your 2 lists write the heading One + Thing(s) I Can Do.  Then for each item on your Step 1 list, write down 1 or more things you can do right now to move forward or address the things you identified holding you back focusing first on your top 3.  Remember that one of things you can do is to get support with the parts of you who hold beliefs, fears, assumptions, etc.  You’ll see an example of that on my sample exercise below.

Step 4
Write one more heading – Take Action.  Commit to take at least 1 action for each of your top 3 items.  

Steps 3 and 4 are iterative.  That means once you’ve taken action return to your list and do something else already on the list or add new things you can do and take action again.
